Driving Directions:
Trailhead and parking area are on Moose Mountain Lodge Road in Hanover, NH. From Rt. 4, 1.0 mile east of the northern junction with Rt. 4A, turn north onto Rudsboro Road. Drive 3.3 miles and turn right onto Old Dana Road (may be muddy in the spring). Continue 0.4 miles and take the first right on the unsigned Moose Mountain Lodge Road. Drive 0.8 miles, climbing a steep, winding section to a fork with a gate. Park on the roadside without blocking the gate. Click here for a Google map.

About the Hike:
The South Knob of Hanover's Moose Mountain is the location of a large cell tower. It was once proposed for a fire tower. Minimal views can be seen through the trees from the tower location. From the gate, walk up the road along the shore of a scenic pond near the top of the Moose Mountain ridge. Several paths lead down to the shore of the pond where you can look out over the water and see the cell tower at the top of the knob. Continue up the road for 0.1 miles, and pass a clearing on the left where there is a trail map of a small walking trail network. Continue uphill gradually along the road for just over 0.4 miles to a point where the road makes a switchback to the right. At the turn of the switchback, a couple other of the local walking trails depart, including one that connects to the Appalachian Trail up South Moose Mountain. Continue up the road for 0.2 miles to the cell tower.
